Dress Code
The ASLEI and TASL programs want to foster the recognition that we are future professionals. Dressing according to professional standards shows we are serious about our professional goals.
- If you are unsure what professional clothing to bring, here is a pinterest board for .
- The Monfort College of Business Professional Attire Closet provides èßätv students with free access to new and gently used business clothing, including suits, blouses, belts, and ties. For more details, page.
- As a show of respect and professionalism for the Deaf community, our colleagues, and our profession, look for examples of business casual styles. (e.g., no bare midriffs, no spaghetti straps without a cover, no cleavage, nor low-cut or sleeveless tops.) Skin as a backdrop of a signing space can affect the comprehensibility and clarity of signs from certain angles. ASL interpreters should generally wear clothing that has solid or muted colors that clearly contrast with their skin tone to promote clarity and mitigate distractions. This often means avoiding busy patterns, bright colors, and flashy jewelry. Long sleeves should cover arm tattoos to maintain a clear and distraction-free visual field for interpretations.
